Telangana government launches boat service on Krishna river to spur water sports, tourism

For lovers of water sports and water tourism, the Telangana government has launched boat services on the Krishna waters between Srisailam and Somasila, in Nagarkurnool. The 100-seat jetty was launched by the state tourism minister Srinivas Goud on Thursday as part of the Swadesh Darshan project.

HYDERABAD: For lovers of water sports and water tourism, the Telangana government has launched boat services on the Krishna waters between Srisailam and Somasila, in Nagarkurnool. The 100-seat jetty was launched by the state tourism minister Srinivas Goud on Thursday as part of the Swadesh Darshan project.
A cottage with 10 rooms was also inaugurated. The cottage will have a parking area, landscaping, solar lightning and fencing. A total of Rs 91 crore was sanctioned by the Centre for the Integrated development of eco-tourism project in Mahbubnagar district (common).
So far Rs 72 crore has been released.
A fine dining restaurant will also come up at Singotam along with an amphitheatre with 1000-seating capacity. The Lakhsmi temple will also be illuminated.
Announcing the development, Goud tweeted, “Tourists can enjoy the road-cum-river cruise tours between Hyderabad and Somasila via Srisailam.”
Goud visited the areas of Somasila and Amaragiri and said, “The Kolhapur region which once suffered from Naxal issues has seen better days after the formation of Telangana.”
The minister also asked the central government to support the development of the state, create more employment opportunities and give national status to the Palmuru-Rangareddy project. He was accompanied by government whip Guvvala Balaraju and MLA Harshavardhan Reddy and former Minister Jupally Krishnarao.
