Allahabad high court has ordered that they can carry on with their businesses till further orders.
The three companies named-
Jay Kay Beverages, JP India Product, and Agarwal Food Products had approached the court seeking quashing of the the order dated October 20 passed by food, safety and drug administration, banning the manufacture, sale and marketing of their respective packaged drinking water pouches.
According to the order passed by local authorities, manufacturing, marketing and sale of water pouches was completely banned following orders from the CM during the video conferencing. “Strict action will be taken against the person, if they are found violating these orders,” read the order.
Sarthak Chaturvedi, the lawyer who represented the case in the high court, urged the court that all manufacturers have license that are necessary for establishment of an industry and to make sealed packaged drinking water in the packing of polythene pouches. He told TOI that he informed the court that the products, which are being manufactured by the companies, are being recycled and not harming the environment.
Quashing the impugned order, the court stated that it shall remain stayed till further orders.
