BIHARSHARIF: Taking cognizance of the state Lokayukta’s order, Nalanda district education office on Saturday dismissed 127 teachers from service for their appointment allegedly on fake credentials. They were appointed in the Silao block of the district.
The dismissed teachers had failed to respond to the state vigilance department, which had asked them to quit on their own after it found that they used fake credentials to get jobs.
The sword of dismissal is hanging on the heads of 425 more such teachers.
District education officer Manoj Kumar and district programme officer Arinjay Kumar jointly signed the dismissal orders. Manoj said the department would lodge cases of forgery against them to realize around Rs24 crore paid as salary since their appointments. Some of them were appointed in 2008.
The officer said most of the dismissed teachers had got jobs by using fake teachers’ eligibility test (TET) marksheets.
The Lokayukta had ordered their dismissal following a complaint filed by RTI activist and whistleblower Dhananjay Kumar alias Guddu, who had detected large-scale anomalies in the appointment of teachers in the district.
