Coral Springs Woman Who Called 911 to Report Finding Body Arrested for Murder: Police

Yvonne Serrano facing second-degree murder charge

911 calls released share the moments after a Coral Springs woman accused of killing another woman and then calling to report the dead body contacted authorities.

Saturday morning, around 6 a.m., Coral Springs Police said officers responded to a report of an unknown woman dead in a driveway. Officers identified the woman as Daniela Tabares Maya, 21, and found that she had died from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police said an investigation revealed that the initial 911 caller, identified as 51-year-old Yvonne Serrano, had shot and killed Maya.

"I just walked out (of her home) and there's a car in my driveway with a dead body," Serrano said in the call.

According to a police report, Serrano was charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence. In the 911 call, Serrano described the body as being next to the vehicle in her driveway and said she could not tell who it was.

The report says Serrano and Tabares were out for movie and drinks with mutual friends. Eventually Tabares drives Serrano home at around two in the morning, but, according to the report, that is where things get foggy since Serrano didn't call police until four hours later.

Initially, Serrano told police she had no memory of the prior night before changing her story and saying she woke up inside the victim's car, the report says. Police say Serrano also deleted all files in her Ring doorbell app.

GoFundMe page has been set up for the victim's family.
