KTR calls on Smriti, seeks Rs 806 cr for textile park in Warangal

Hyderabad: IT and Industries minister KT Rama Rao met Union textile minister Smriti Irani in New Delhi on Tuesday and sought financial assistance of Rs 806.81 crore for setting up Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) in Warangal and clearance for Mega Powerloom Cluster at Sircilla under Comprehensive Powerloom Cluster Development Scheme (CPCDS).
He informed the Union minister that the state government has geotagged powerlooms.
As per the geotagging report, Telangana has 35,588 powerlooms, of which the majority of powerlooms —25,495— are in Sircilla district.
KTR also met Union minister Prakash Javadekar and urged him to continue to provide support to the state government’s Pharma City project. He later met the party MPs and asked them to discuss the state projects pending with the Centre.
Delivering a keynote address at the CRISIL India Infrastructure Conclave-2019, he stated that the state government has invested Rs 45,000 crore in providing safe drinking water to all households by constructing 50 new water treatment plants, 19 new intake wells, 19,000 service tanks and laying 1.05 lakh km of water pipelines, and added that the infrastructure created under Mission Bhagiratha is four times more than that which was created since Independence in Telangana region.
