WARANGAL: Even as MAUD minister K T Rama Rao made a pitch in Delhi for funds to develop Textile Park in Warangal, residents point at other infrastructure issues, especially roads, that first need to be addressed.
Stating that good roads are the first step to a developed city, Nambuti Sai Sidhartha, said the key Hunter Road is an example of the how quality of arterial routes is not maintained.
“This road connects Warangal to Kazipet and Hanamkonda. People also take this diversion to get to Hyderabad when they want to skip city traffic. In spite of how much this road is used, it is poorly maintained. There are many potholes on it which are dangerous for motorists.”
He said one of the reasons the road needs frequent repair is that lorries use this stretch to transport sand from Godavari to Hyderabad. “Authorities must ensure quality material used. Filling in pot-holes is not a solution,” he said.
