MUZAFFARPUR: Muzaffarpur police recovered live country-made bombs from a house in Kushi village under Kanti police station area on Thursday morning.
Deputy SP (west) Krishna Murari Prasad said a team led by Kanti police station SHO was set up after getting specific information about bombs in the house in Kushi village. "The team cordoned off the entire village and started combing exercise.
Eight live Sutali bombs have been recovered from the house of one Sanjay Thakur. All of his family members are absconding," he said.
The officer added that the bomb- the diffusing squad was called. "The bomb squad has defused all bombs. Now raids are on to nab Sanjay and other family members," Prasad told, adding that inquiry was being done for finding the purpose of keeping the bombs.
Meanwhile, sources in the police department said the recovered bombs might have been kept by a gang of criminals to eliminate their opponents. "Six members of a gang have been arrested by a special investigation team (SIT), constituted after an attack on Muzaffarpur SSP Jayant Kant last month. The gang members suspect the involvement of another gang in keeping the crude bomb."
SSP Jayant Kant did not rule out the possibility of a criminal gang. "Though we cannot reject this theory, we are investigating the matter from all angles. I can say something concrete only after completion of the probe," he said.
