MUZAFFARPUR: Police on Thursday recovered eight live crude bombs from the house of one Sanjay Thakur at Kushi village under the Kanti police station area in Muzaffarpur district.
Deputy SP (west) Krishna Murari Prasad said a team led by SHO of Kanti police station raided the village and recovered eight live country-made bombs from the house of Sanjay. All family members, however, managed to escape.
The officer said the bomb disposal squad defused all the bombs.
“Raids are on to arrest Sanjay and other family members,” Prasad said.
Police sources said the bombs were probably kept at the house by a gang of criminals. “Six members of a criminal gang, who were arrested in connection with the attack on Muzaffarpur SSP Jayant Kant last month, have hinted at the involvement of another gang in keeping the crude bomb at Sanjay’s house,” the sources added.
The SSP has also not ruled out the possibility of involvement of criminal gangs in storing the crude bombs. “Though we cannot reject this theory, we are investigating the matter from all angles,” he said.
