A PAC jawan was shot dead over a land dispute at Shahpur village under Tarwa police station area of Azamgarh district on Friday.

VARANASI: A PAC jawan was shot dead over a land dispute at Shahpur village under Tarwa police station area of Azamgarh district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Chhotu Pandey (21).
According to reports, there was a dispute over a piece of land between Chhotu Pandey's family and relatives. Pandey, who had come home on leave, was allegedly shot by the rival group.

He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctors. The police reached the spot after getting information but the assailants managed to flee.
Azamgarh SP (rural) Narendra Pratap Singh told TOI over phone that a police team was camping in the village and matter is being investigated.
