Magadh University, Patliputra University: 1,19,016 to take Degree Part II exams from today

The Degree (Part II) examinations of Magadh University (MU) students will begin from Friday and end on December 12.

GAYA: The Degree (Part II) examinations of Magadh University (MU) students will begin from Friday and end on December 12.
Exams of the colleges, which fall under the jurisdiction of Patliputra University (PPU), will also be conducted by MU as the students of 2017-2020 session had been admitted before the establishment of PPU. However, MU and PPU students of the 2018-2021 batch will write their exams separately.
PPU was carved out of MU in March, 2018.
Altogether 25 of the 44 constituent colleges and three of the four government-funded minority institutes were tagged with PPU. On the other hand, about two dozen postgraduate departments, 19 constituent colleges and one government-funded minority institute were left with MU.
According to MU’s officiating registrar, Sidhnath Prasad, the exams will be conducted at 57 centres in seven districts of the state. There will be 31 centres in Gaya, Nawada, Aurangabad, Jehanabad and Arwal and 26 in Patna and Nalanda.
“Altogether 1,19,016 examinees will write the exams. Of these, 62,201 are from MU colleges and the remaining 56,815 are from PPU,” he told this newspaper on Thursday.
There are 33 subjects, which have been divided into four groups. Group A comprises physics, chemistry, economics, electronics, statistics, labour and social welfare, rural economics, Buddhist studies, public administration and music.
Political science, mathematics and sociology are in group B while group C has subjects like botany, zoology, commerce, psychology, home science, ancient Indian and Asian studies, philosophy and Sanskrit. Subjects in group D include geography, Hindi, English, Urdu, Magahi, Arabic, Pali, Persian, Bengali, Maithili, Bhojpuri and Prakrit.
