A 30-year-old man was mowed down by a truck in west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh on Thursday afternoon. The truck driver has been arrested and the vehicle seized.

NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old man was mowed down by a truck in west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh on Thursday afternoon. The truck driver has been arrested and the vehicle seized.
The deceased, Hemant Kumar, who worked with Urban Clap, was on his way for an appointment when the accident happened. Police said they received a call around 3pm about an accident near Guatdini Dry Cleaning on the Punjabi Bagh Club road. A team reached the location and found the body lying in a pool surrounded by a crowd.

An eyewitness informed the cops about the truck that had a Delhi number. He also claimed that the driver, who was speeding, lost control of the vehicle and crushed the scooterist under the wheels.
The body was shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where a postmortem was conducted. The driver, Jitender Singh, a resident of Manpuri in Uttar Pradesh, was released on bail.
Police have carried out mechanical inspection of both the vehicles and registered a case of rash and negligent driving causing death.
