Villagers block road to protest child’s murder

Angry residents of Khutiya-Indu village under Majhauliya police station area in West Champaran blocked the Majhauliya-Bettiah road on Saturday in protest against the murder of a five-year-old boy Hariom on Friday evening. They demanded the arrest of the four accused in the case.

MOTIHARI: Angry residents of Khutiya-Indu village under Majhauliya police station area in West Champaran blocked the Majhauliya-Bettiah road on Saturday in protest against the murder of a five-year-old boy Hariom on Friday evening. They demanded the arrest of the four accused in the case.
Police sources said Hariom was playing in the evening when some of his co-villagers strangled him.
His body was later found by locals in the night.
Hariom’s father Brajesh Yadav lodged a case on Saturday and named four persons of his village. The police were conducting raids to arrest the accused, who were evading arrest.
Police sources said the cause of murder is suspected to be old enmity between Hariom’s family and the accused.
Tension is prevailing in the village and neighbouring areas after the murder. Agitating locals were shouting slogans against police inaction. The road blockade was lifted after intervention of senior police officers.
