Two shot dead in Begusarai district

BEGUSARAI/PATNA: Criminals shot dead two people – Vishwajeet Kumar (25) and Manchun Kumar (27) – in Mohan Eghu locality under the Mufassil police station area in Begusarai late on Friday evening.
Locals found the bodies of the two lying in bushes at night and informed the police. A police team later rushed to the spot and took possession of the bodies.
Police said the FSL team recovered six empty cartridges from the spot.The bodies were sent to Begusarai sadar hospital for post mortem.
SHO of Mufassil police station Rajbindu Prasad said the victims had criminal antecedents. “The incident seems to be a fallout of gang rivalry. Vishwajeet was an accused in the murder of Toofani Singh, a criminal, in 2017,” the SHO said, adding police would record the statement of the victims’ family members soon.
Meanwhile, panic gripped the locality after the twin murder. “Raids are being conducted to arrest the criminals,” the SHO said. Sources said police have detained some suspects for interrogation.
According to locals, Vishwajeet and his friend Manchun had heated arguments with local liquor smugglers on Friday.
