Kia Seltos Nov 2019 sales at 14k – Kia is now 4th largest car maker in India

Kia Seltos has managed to increase sales yet again. And in doing so, has posted its highest ever monthly sales in Nov 2019. Launched in August this year, sales of Seltos has only increased, month after month.

From selling 6,236 cars in Aug, sales have more than doubled in less than 4 months to 14,005 units in Nov 2019. In doing so, Kia is now the 4th largest car brand in India, in terms of sales for the month of Nov 2019. Kia is only behind Maruti (139k), Hyundai (44.6k) and Mahindra (14.2k).

Kia is ahead of established car brands like Tata, Honda, Ford, Renault, Toyota, Volkswagen, etc. All these brands have multiple cars on sale in India, but Kia only has the Seltos on sale as of now.

Kia Seltos is regaled for its outstanding design and future-ready connected car features. It comprises of first in segment features with UVO Connect technology with 37 smart features.

Its interiors see a 10.25” touchscreen infotainment system, an 8” HUD, wireless charging, ventilated seats, an 8 way electronically adjustable driver seat and ambient lighting. It also gets a range of safety equipment which includes side and curtain airbags, hill hold assist, vehicle stability management system, blind view monitor and tyre pressure monitor.

It is presented in two trims of Tech Line and GT Line and in 3 engine and 4 transmission options. All engine options are BS6 compliant. These are 1.5 liter petrol generating 115 PS and mated to either 6 MT or CVT. Then there is the 1.4 liter turbo petrol delivering 140 PS, mated to 7 DCT or 6 MT. It also has 1.5 liter diesel on offer, delivering 115 PS. This is mated either to a 6 MT or 6 AT.

Kia Seltos is the company’s maiden offering in India. It will be produced at the Kia Motors plant situated in Penukonda, Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh. Pricing of the Kia Seltos in the range of Rs.9.69 and Rs.17.99 lakhs allows it to compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Captur and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross; it also rivals the Tata Harrier and MG Hector.

Next launch planned by Kia in India is that of the premium MPV – Carnival. It will launch at Auto Expo 2020 in Feb next year. Once launched it will rival the likes of Toyota Innova Crysta. It will also launch a sub 4 meter SUV based on the Hyundai Venue. This small Kia SUV will be launched by July 2020.
