NEW DELHI: The ninth edition of Delhi government's Youth Festival started on Sunday at Central Park of Connaught Place with mesmerising Indian and contemporary dance and music.
The six-day extravaganza is a celebration of music, dance, theatre and arts. "The Youth Festival is a platform that showcases the rich cultural legacy of India. Audience will witness an exciting lineup of artists performing dance, music, and street plays on a single stage," a statement issued by the art, culture and languages department of Delhi government stated.

"The festival will bring musical shows, dance, theatre and many other performances. We are determined to preserve the cultural heritage of Delhi," deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said. "This celebration will bring together lovers of every culture and language, who can enjoy the show," he added.
On Sunday, people were mesmerised by Sarod and Rabab ensemble by disciples of Mukesh Sharma. This was followed by a cultural performance by Tapaswani Navsadhana. A street play, contemporary dance performance and a group folk dance were other highlights of the first day of the festival, which culminated with a band performance by Ekagra.
"One of the highlights of the event is that both eminent artists and upcoming talents are coming together to participate in this grand celebration of youth," a government official said.
