Bihar: Nalanda teacher succumbs to gunshot injuries

Miscreants shot at and critically injured a schoolteacher in a Nalanda village on Thursday, who succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Thursday. With this, at least seven persons were killed in Nalanda in the last one week.

BIHARSHARIF: Miscreants shot at and critically injured a schoolteacher in a Nalanda village on Thursday, who succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Thursday. With this, at least seven persons were killed in Nalanda in the last one week.
Miscreants pumped four bullets in the body of Dharmendra Kumar, a teacher at Dharahri Middle School near Koel Bigha under Chandi police station area on Thursday.
The incident occurred when he was on way to school from his residence at Harnaut. Police got critically injured Dharmendra admitted to Harnaut primary health centre (PHC), from where doctors referred him to PMCH after first aid.
Dharmendra’ s family members and villagers blocked Patna-Biharsharif road on NH-31 (A) near Madhopur to demand compensation and immediate arrest of the culprits. They lifted the blockade after police intervention. Meanwhile, police officials said that the exact cause of the crime could not be ascertained but raids are on to nab the criminals.
There has been a spate in crime in Nalanda over the past few days. Police recovered bodies of a man identified as Sunny Yadav, his pregnant wife Mintu Devi and their three-year-old daughter Nandni from a pond at village Masiadih under Bind police station in Nalanda.
In another incident, one Sanatan Singh, an autorickshaw driver’s body was found in a well at Mahmadpur village under Noorsarai police station area on December 1. A resident of Chhabilapur, the deceased had taken an orchestra team to the village on November 28 and had gone missing since then.
The same day Manpur police in the district recovered body of a woman with a bullet injury on her head. Police recovered an empty bullet and blood stains from the place of crime. But eve after a lapse of five days, neither she has been identified nor any arrests have been done. On November 29, a man identified as Sita Ram Paswan, a resident of Mahmadpur village under Chandi police station area, was allegedly hacked to death by his cousins. The accused are still at large.
Two arrested: Two criminals identified as Ramu Yadav and Bala, who were wanted in a kidnapping case, were arrested from Maniawan village under the Nalanda police station area with a country-made pistol and two live cartridges on Thursday. According to police sources, they had allegedly kidnapped one Nitish Kumar from near Nav Nalanda Mahavihar in Nalanda on October 4 for ransom. The victim was later safely recovered and three criminals were arrested. A police officer said that Ramu Yadav has cases of kidnapping, loot and murder registered against him with several police stations.
