The UGC guidelines 2009 mandate selection of PhD candidates through a test, six months long course in research methodology, publication of at least one paper in a peer reviewed journal from the PhD dissertation, presentation of at least one paper from the dissertation content at a national or international seminar and submission of soft copy of the PhD dissertation for an online plagiarism test among others.
The BPSC, according to sources, recommended altogether 33 names for appointment as history teachers in the undivided MU as the posts were advertised before the establishment of Pataliputra University. Pataliputra University, it may be recalled, was carved out of MU in March 2018. Later, one candidate did not turn up for counselling. Thus, total 32 candidates appeared for counselling, out of which 21 were appointed in MU and 11 were allotted Pataliputra University (PPU).
