Pahalgam, Nainital, Darjeeling popular among honeymooners
PATNA: With the onset of the wedding season, newlyweds are busy planning their honeymoon so that they can spend quality time together. Working professionals, homemakers and students, on the other hand, are gearing up to have a blast during Christmas and New Year holidays.
Travel service providers in the city are getting a lot of queries regarding trips to foreign countries like Bali, Phi Phi Islands, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

“While newlyweds have enquired about Pahalgam, Nainital, Srinagar, Darjeeling and Lonavala, families are planning to visit Sikkim, Mussoorie, Dehradun and Ladakh to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Day,” the owner of a travel service company on Exhibition Road told this newspaper on Tuesday.
He added, “We have witnessed almost a 35% increase in domestic and international bookings because of the ongoing wedding season. Most people want pre-planned holiday packages as they include flight tickets, hotel bookings and other necessities at affordable rates.”
Gola Road resident Amish Kumar sought the help of a travel agent for getting the best deal. He said, “I paid only Rs 21,999 for a five-day/four-night honeymoon package to Mauritius. It was affordable and hassle-free.”
One Deepashree Biswas, who is planning to go on a solo trip, has consulted some travel agents in the city. She said, “Travelling alone is not easy and I need to be careful as I won’t have anybody to check on me.”
There are also some who are going abroad during the year-end because of the liquor law in the state. “We want to enjoy our holidays to the fullest. My family and I have decided to spend this Christmas in Bali,” said Pankaj Andrew, a resident of Fairfield Colony.
