Karnataka: Three killed in landslide in Dakshina Kannada
The incident took place while several people were digging land to erect pillar for new building.
MANGALURU: Three persons were buried alive and one is battling for life after a massive landlslide in Odiyoor, Vittal police station limits, on Saturday evening. According to police, the incident took place while several people were digging land to erect pillar for new building and suddenly hillock collapsed.
Police said that in the incident, Balappa Naika, 56, resident of Vittal Kasba village, Prakash, resident of Manila and Ramesh, 50, resident of Vittal Padnur were killed on the spot.
Another person critically injured and battling for life, is being treated at a private hospital. A large number of people had gathered near the spot soon after the incident. It took several hours to pull out bodies from debris, added police. The incident took place around 5.30pm.
A case has been registered at Vittal police station and investigation is on.
