Flood relief for 72,023 beneficiaries in Pune division

Pune: Pune divisional commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar has directed the five district collectors in the division to disburse the flood compensation of Rs220.36crore to 72,023 beneficiaries within a week after necessary checks.
A state government resolution was issued to this effect on December 6. The severely flood-ravaged districts of Kolhapur and Sangli were allocated Rs110crore and Rs102crore respectively.
Satara district was allocated Rs5.54crore, Pune was sanctioned Rs1.12crore, while Solapur was allocated Rs31lakh.
“We have been allocated the entire amount, and there is no shortage of funds. The district collectors along with their teams will check the beneficiaries and transfer the funds to their bank accounts,’’ the divisional commissioner said.
The amounts are being given for partially-damaged and fully-damaged houses and other losses. There will also be a separate assessment of beneficiaries who can get permanent houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), stated officials. The GR said that the beneficiaries will be assessed for the scheme for both urban and rural housing, while they would be paid Rs95,100 for the damages.
Mhaisekar said that the funds will be deposited in the bank accounts of the affected citizens within a week after the necessary checks. Various regions of Pune, Amravati and Konkan division were severely affected due to the floods. The situation was alarming in Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Thane, Pune, Nashik, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Raigad and Sindhudurg districts with more than 761 villages and 69 tehsils reeling under the floods. The roads connecting the affected villages were cut off due to waterlogging with over 300 bridges under water, affecting over 40 state highways and over 50 roads that had to be shut down to prevent accidents.
While the division has been allocated Rs220 crore, Konkan and Amravati divisions have been allocated Rs3.70crore and Rs3.67crore, respectively. The state was among the severely affected this year and had received Rs3,150crore for rescue and relief operation. Of the total amount, Rs676crore was released through the State Disaster Relief Fund, while Rs 2,474 crore was disbursed through the National Disaster Relief Fund.
