NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Logan Drevitch netted two goals and posted two assists for Merrimack as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to the Warriors, 4-2, at Lawler Rink Saturday night. Junior Eric MacAdams scored his first goal of the season and freshman Chase Stevenson added his second for the 'Cats.

The Wildcats are now 7-7-1 (3-5-0 HEA) and the Warriors improve to 4-9-2 (2-4-2 HEA).

The Wildcats host Merrimack Sunday at 7 p.m.

UNH men fell at Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, Conn. – Josh Hopkins scored 21 points to lead a second-half comeback by the University of New Hampshire men’s basketball team, but Quinnipiac University made 7 of 8 free throws in the last 30 seconds to record a 75-67 victory Saturday evening at People’s United Center.

Hopkins was 6-for-10 from 3-point range and a perfect 3 of 3 from the foul line to account for his team-high 21 points. Sean Suthlerin finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds while Jayden Martinez recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds; it was the fifth double-double of the season for both players. Nick Guadarrama tallied 12 points, six rebounds and four assists.

QU was led by Rich Kelly’s 36 points; he made 13 of 18 field goal attempts, including 5-for-6 on 3-pointers. No other Bobcat scored in double figures.

UNH is now 5-5 overall and QU improved to 3-4.

New Hampshire returns to action Dec. 18 (7 p.m.) at Marist College.

UNH men's track wins opener over Maine

DURHAM — The University of New Hampshire men’s track & field team opened its indoor season Saturday beating Maine, 99-59.

The Wildcats had a first place finisher in 13 of the 15 scored events on the afternoon; New Hampshire was led once again by senior thrower Zachary Astle who swept the throwing events with a win in the weight throw and the shot put. He took first in the weight throw with a best throw of 62’ 2.25” and won the shot put with a distance of 54’ 5.5”.

Wildcat women top Maine

DURHAM – The University of New Hampshire women’s track and field team kicked off the indoor track season this Saturday afternoon with the team in action at home at the Paul Sweet Oval and Boston University.

The Wildcats won their home meet against Maine with a team score of 93.5 points to Maine’s 69.5; meanwhile, four distance runners took on top talent at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener hosted by Boston University.

Seacoast Christian falls in opener

ELIOT, Maine — Temple Academy (1-0) defeated Seacoast Christian (0-1) 79-34 in Class D boys basketball Saturday afternoon at Eliot Baptist Church. 

Temple jumped out to a 26-7 lead after one quarter and never looked back.

The Guardians were led by Ethan Huss and Charles Tieszen who both dropped in nine points and Caleb Reardon hauled down seven rebounds. Freshmen guards Seth Vega (3 assists) and Isaiah Cardinal (3 steals) played well in their varsity debut. 

Seacoast is back in action on Monday as they travel to Freeport to take on Pine Tree Academy.

University of New Hampshire
