LSSND wrapping up year with community panel and fundraising gala

FARGO — To cap 100 years of service to North Dakotans, Lutheran Social Services (LSS) of North Dakota will host a fundraising gala on Saturday, Dec. 14, at Sanctuary Events Center, 670 Fourth Ave. N.

The day will begin with an "Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly" discussion from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. It will feature LSS CEO Jessica Thomasson and Nicole Phillips of "The Kindness Podcast."

Phillips is a motivational speaker, blogger, Forum columnist and author of two books, including, "Kindness is Contagious: 100 Stories to Remind You God is Good and So are Most People." She and Thomasson will lead an interactive discussion on the true meaning behind “Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly.”

Sean Coffman, LSSND communications specialist and creator of the North Dakota Human Rights Film Festival, will moderate the discussion and invite audience members to join in the conversation with their questions and thoughts.

Later that evening, a 100th anniversary gala will be held at the Sanctuary. The formal event will kick off with a social at 5:30 p.m., followed by the screening of a short historical documentary on the history of LSSND at 6:15 p.m., a dinner with three entrée choices and a dance, featuring music by the Jessica Vines Band.
