WARANGAL: Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan offered prayers at the historic Bhadrakali Temple and Thousand Pillar Temple during her visit to Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and Warangal on Monday.
She also visited the Thalassemia and Sickle cell Transfusion Centre at Warangal, which is being expanded with help from Red Cross Society.
The governor visited IRCS and laid foundation stone for the expansion of the centre.
She visited the inpatient ward where the medical experts explained her about the disease and how it affects people.
The governor also appreciated the services provided by local doctors.
While interacting with junior Red Cross and Youth Red Cross volunteers, Soundararajan said, she will make efforts for setting up a thalassemia research centre in Warangal, as requested by the chairmen of the Warangal IRCS.
The governor appreciated the fact that Red Cross volunteers are coming forward in large numbers to donate blood for the patients.
She thanked to chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for covering thalassemia in the Arogyasri scheme, as patients will get free transportation and medicine.
The governor said that Union and state government insurance policies will help patients, and as aid in making Telangana healthier.
