These are the names of all the people hoping to become the next MP for the Newbury constituency after the general election 2019.

Voters will be heading to the polls on Thursday, December 12 to cast their vote for who will be the next MP and represent them in Parliament.

Ultimately, your decision could influence which political party ends up creating a new government - but whichever party leader ends up in 10 Downing Street, one thing is for certain.  There will definitely be a new face representing Newbury.

That's because the winner of the 2017 election, Tory MP Richard Benyon, stood down after voting against one of Boris Johnson's Brexit deals in September .

Mr Benyon had been the constituency's MP for the past 14 years.

The constituency covers Newbury , Thatcham , Hungerford and dozens of villages in West Berkshire .

These are all the candidates standing in Newbury, listed in alphabetical order.

Lee Dillon

Party: Liberal Democrats

Lee Dillon is well known in the constituency as the leader of the opposition on West Berkshire Council.

He's been a Lib Dem since he was 16 years-old, and became a councillor for Thatcham in 2007.

Mr Dillon also served as Mayor of  Thatcham from 2010 to 2012.

He currently works for Sovereign housing association and has lived in West Berkshire his whole life.

Policies: The Lib Dems have been increasing in popularity this year after regained control of both Newbury and Thatcham town councils, and increased their representation at West Berkshire Council by four times during the local elections held in May.

Laura Farris

Party: Conservative

Laura Farris will be the candidates to beat as the Conservatives had a 24,380 vote majority last election.

Ms Farris works as a barrister and also had a career as a journalist for the BBC, Reuters and the New York Times.

Ms Farris' father, Michael McNair-Wilson, was the Conservative MP for Newbury from 1974 to 1992.

Policies: Key Conservative policies include getting Brexit done, and increasing spending on the NHS and police officers.

Steve Masters

Party: Green

Policies:  Councillor Steve Masters represents Speen on West Berkshire Council, and successfully managed to get the council to declare a climate emergency in July .

Cllr Masters is also the chairman of mental health charity Eight Bells, which offers clients a range of activities, courses and trips.

He has previously served as an engineer for the RAF.

James Wilder

Party: Labour

Policies: His community work involves sitting on the youth advisory board for an Olympic legacy charity called Spirit of 2020, which funds community projects across the UK.

He currently works as a teacher at Park House School in Newbury and was born and raised in Thatcham.

Ben Holden-Crowther

Party: Independent

Policies:

Ben Holden-Crowther is standing as an independent candidate with no party affiliations.  His priorities include focusing on being a constituency MP and focusing on key issues such as protecting the environment, improving infrastructure and preserving Newbury's heritage.

He is currently working for a Norwegian cryptocurrency startup.
