Sheffield United are nine places and seven points better off than Aston Villa – but manager Chris Wilder still has isn’t smiling.

That’s because he thinks the Blades should be higher up the Premier League table at this stage of the season.

Wilder’s side have lost only once in the last nine games going into Saturday’s clash at Bramall Lane having beaten Norwich City last weekend.

But that’s not enough to satisfy Wilder, who is adamant they deserve a bigger points tally against their name.

“I think we could have got a little bit more at times,” he told the Sheffield Star. “Okay, there’s maybe a few games people think we might have lost.

“But from my point of view, I don’t think any of the points we’ve picked up have been ‘How on earth did we get away with that?’ ones.

“I think we’ve deserved them all and, like I say, I think the lads have sometimes warranted more with what they’ve done.”

He added: “We feel we are light of at least four points. But the draws we’ve had recently, in a cricket sense, they’re not losing draws if you like.

“We’ve not nicked anything that we haven’t deserved as far as I’m concerned. That’s not been the case at all.”

Villa are hovering just above the relegation zone – on goal difference – after suffering back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Leicester City.
