PATNA: A 35-year-old woman, mother of five, was allegedly gang-raped by three men at Bishanpur Ahok village under Balia block in Begusarai district late on Wednesday evening.
The incident took place when the woman was on way to her home after alighting from a train at Umeshnagar railway station. In her FIR lodged with Sahebpur Kamal police station on Thursday, the woman alleged that she was dragged to a secluded place by three men after she got down from an autorickshaw near her home.
“They put a cloth in my mouth and took turns to rape me,” the woman alleged in her FIR.
The three accused were identified as Solu Yadav, Mangu Yadav and Kamdev Yadav. While Mangu is brother of Solu, Kamdev is his brother-in-law.
SHO of Sahebpur Kamal police station Sudin Ram told this newspaper over phone on Thursday that an FIR was registered under Section 376 (rape and gang rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in connection with the incident. “The police are investigating the matter and efforts are on to arrest the accused,” the SHO added.
The SHO said some locals have told police that the woman had an affair with Solu. “We are probing the case from all angles. The woman was sent to Begusarai sadar hospital for medical examination on Thursday,” the SHO added.
Balia DSP Anjani Kumar said the woman was returning to her village from Khagaria where she had gone to attend a family function when the incident occurred. “She told police that Solu and two others took her to a field where she was raped by them,” the DSP added.
