Turtle Bay Foundation presented a total of $172,450 in grants and scholarships to groups and individuals committed to serving the North Shore and Koolauloa communities during an awards ceremony on Wednesday night.

It marked the seventh annual awards dinner for the foundation, which is the charitable arm of Turtle Bay Resort.

Grantees include 104 nonprofits that address needs in areas ranging from education to cultural preservation. The foundation also donated scholarship funding to 52 students, including Cassandra Miller, who’s working toward a Ph.D. in education while teaching math and special education at Hauula Elementary School.

“We are thrilled to give back to the exceptional individuals and organizations who make the North Shore a rich, vibrant community,” said Jerry Gibson, vice president of Turtle Bay Resort, in a statement. “Each honoree was carefully chosen for their outstanding service and leadership, and we look forward to seeing all that they accomplish in the coming year.”

The Turtle Bay Foundation was established in 2012 and has donated $630,000 in scholarships for education and job training to individuals, as well as grants to organizations that address historic and cultural preservation, health care, homelessness and more.
