Bihar: Four killed in two accidents on Araria-Purnia Road

Four persons, including two of a family, died while another four of the same family were seriously injured in two road accidents on Araria-Purnia Road on NH- 57 near Balu Chowk on Thursday. The injured were undergoing treatment at Purnia Sadar hospital, where their condition was said to be critical.

ARARIA: Four persons, including two of a family, died while another four of the same family were seriously injured in two road accidents on Araria-Purnia Road on NH- 57 near Balu Chowk on Thursday. The injured were undergoing treatment at Purnia Sadar hospital, where their condition was said to be critical.
The incident happened when six members of a family were on their way from Rampur Kodarkatti village in Araria block to Araria court station to board a Katihar-bound train on Thursday morning.
A truck hit the autorickshaw in which they were travelling.
Three persons, including driver Md Afzal died on the spot. The other deceased were Arjun Biswas (35) and his son Anshu Biswas (10).
Araria DM Baidyanath Yadav, SDO Rozi Kumari, SDPO K D Singh and several other officials reached the spot and the injured were rushed to the hospital. The district administration also paid an ex gratia amount to the next of kin of the deceased under the state government’s scheme.
The four injured were first sent to Araria Sadar hospital from where they were referred to Purnia.
In another accident near a private engineering college at Forbesganj, one Md Kurban died when a truck hit his motorbike on Thursday.
