Ignou, Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited to launch work-based BBA course

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignou), in association with the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL), will introduce a work-based bachelor in business administration (BBA) programme from the next academic year. ​

PUNE: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignou), in association with the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL), will introduce a work-based bachelor in business administration (BBA) programme from the next academic year.
The students would do an internship, get stipend and also complete their degree simultaneously in three years. As many as 11 companies have tied up for the degree programme in locations across Pune and Mumbai.
The fee will be Rs20,000 a year.
Masood Parveez, the senior regional director of Ignou, said, “Both organizations agree that it is now imperative that due importance be given to work-based education, so that there is a proper match between the skilled manpower required and the skilled workforce available.”
The degree programme aims to source quality manpower to the service sector economy. The students will be expected to study practical skills in a workplace and study theory via eLearning.
The Ignou and MKCL stated that the students would get education, experience and would be able to earn at the same time, as they would get practical experience in a company for three years, a stipend indicated by the firm and a three-year degree.
