Liverpool could face an issue with the pitch in Qatar as they begin their preparations for the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Reds arrived in Doha on Sunday to be greeted with outbreaks of rain and thunderstorms.

Such weather is expected to continue throughout the week, with a similar forecast for Wednesday when the European champions play their semi-final against Mexican side Monterrey.

Liverpool had initially been scheduled to play at the new Education City Stadium, which was due to host their semi-final along with the final.

However, a failure to host a test event meant FIFA couldn't give the green light for the use of the stadium in the tournament.

Instead, Liverpool will now play their semi-final at the Khalifa International Stadium, which is already hosting the last four tie between Flamengo and Al-Hilal the previous day.

With Al-Sadd and Esperance de Tunis playing a fifth-place play-off on the same pitch earlier on Tuesday, it means Liverpool's game will be the third to take place on the same pitch inside 27 hours.

The stadium will also host the third-place play-off and final three days later, one of which is guaranteed to host the Reds.

And Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool will be keeping an eye on conditions ahead of their games.

“I didn’t think about Qatar until after the Watford game," he said.

"Now I think about it, and I heard that they change the stadium, then the next information I got, all the games will be played on the same pitch.

"And then I saw that it is raining!

“I have no problem with rain, especially when it’s warm rain. It is not a concern, it is just something we will have a look at when we are there."
