Commuters on trains between Reading, Berkshire and London Paddington are facing delays due to a signal failure.

The signalling failure has occurred due to a signal failure at Maidenhead first reported at 7.06am this morning.

It comes after the biggest overhaul in services between the two stations for 43 years.

The delays are causing problems for passengers on Transport for London trains running between the two stations and Great Western Railway trains heading west from Paddington.

Disruption is expected until at least 10am.

Ambulance service contacted after report of crash at junction 12

We have contacted the ambulance service after a report of crash at junction 12 for the M4.

A ‘major accident’ was reported by a user of the traffic app Waze at around 11am.

Reports of heavy traffic on M4 at Maidenhead

Drivers are reporting slow traffic on the M4 in Berkshire.

Traffic is heavy on the M4 in one direction in this stretch between junctions 8/9 for Maidenhead and 10 for Wokingham and Bracknell.

The service from Paddington to Reading

The 11.27am train has been cancelled, and the 11.36am train bound for Newbury has been delayed, but other than that the service has returned to normal.

Normal service starting to resume from Reading to Paddington

All the trains from 10.34 to 11.04am are running on time.

For passengers in Twyford, all their services from 10.45am to 12..28pm are running on time.

Normal service has also resumed in Miadenhead, where all trains from 10.39am to 12.35pm running on time.

Trains from Slough to London cancelled

Three services from Slough to Paddington have been cancelled.

These are the 10.34, 10.39 and 11.39am trains.

The next on time train is the 10.45am service, which is only running five minutes late. It will now set off at 10.50am.

Reading to Paddington services running on time

Despite the 10.26am train being cancelled, all trains from Reading to Paddington are running on time.

Al services from 10.34am to 110.4am are running OK.

Poor service heading west from London Paddington

All the trains from 9.32am to 10.04am have been delayed.

The 10.07am train heading west from Paddington to Reading has been cancelled.

The next on time service is the 10.13am train.

Two trains from Reading to Paddington cancelled

The 10.12am and the 10.26am trains from Reading to Paddington have been cancelled.

The next on time service is at 10.08am.

The 10.21am train from Twyford, which also stops at Maidenhead and Slough has been cancelled.

Problems caused on day of massive train overhaul

Huge changes to the way trains operate between Reading and London Paddington were ushered in yesterday.

From now on, all stopping services between the two stations were taken over by Transport for London.

Next four trains from Twyford to London Paddington cancelled

The next four trains from Reading and Twyford to London Paddington have all be cancelled.

The 9.09am to the 9.51am trains have all been cancelled.

That means there won’t be another TfL train running from these stations to Paddington for another hour.

The next on-time service is the 9.58am train.

Next five trains heading west delayed, two cancelled

The next five trains heading west from Paddington to Reading have been delayed. The 8.48am to the 9.07am trains are all delayed.

Meanwhile, the 9.20am train to Cholsey and the 9.20am train to Oxford have both been cancelled.

Trains heading from London delayed

The 8.48 to Swansea and the 8.50am to Malvern, both of which stop at Reading, have both been delayed setting off from London Paddington station.

The next on-time train is the 8.56am train bound for Cholsey.

The 8.44 and 8.48 trains from Maidenhead to London have both been cancelled.

The next train that is reported running on time is the 9.01am train.

Next three TfL trains cancelled from Maidenhead

The 8.31, the 8.35 and the 8.44 TfL trains from Maidenhead to London Paddington have all been cancelled.

The next train that is meant to be running on time is the 8.48am service.

Drivers experience delays of more than an hour on M3

A spokesman for Highways England said:

The M3 in Surrey is currently experiencing severe delays of at least 70 minutes above usual journey times between junctions 4 (Farnborough) and J2 (M25). Lane 1 (of 4) is currently closed J3 to J2 due to a multiple vehicle collision. Traffic officers and emergency services are currently at the scene and working hard to clear this incident as quickly as possible. The queue of traffic is measured at 9 miles in length.

Drivers delayed for 40 minutes on the M3

Drivers are being delayed for 35-40 minutes due to the crash that has occurred as drivers head north from Bracknell and Bagshot towards London on the M3.

Lane one of four is blocked.

Passengers warned of signal failure on GWR

A fault with the train signalling system at Maidenhead has resulted in some fast train services becoming blocked.

Trains running between Reading and London Paddington are subject to delays of up to 30 minutes. Some trains will also be cancelled. A normal service is expected to resume from 9am.

Drivers are queuing for six miles after a crash on the M3 northbound.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash at around 7.22am.

Lanes three and four are blocked.
