Hyderabad: A DNA fingerprinting test has nailed the rape accused in Karimnagar’s Ganneruvaram rape case. A driver allegedly raped his friend’s 45-year-old wife and killed her at a maize farm in Ganneruvaram village on November 4.
Sources in the police department said the tests, conducted by Telangana State Forensic Science Laboratory experts, confirmed that accused Ch Srinivas had raped the 45-year-old woman.
Police found semen on the victim’s body and forensic experts found that it matched with the DNA profile from the blood samples of the accused.
According to police, the victim, the wife of a farmer, was trapped on November 4. “The victim’s husband and accused Ch Srinivas are friends. The duo consumed alcohol. In an intoxicated condition, the victim’s husband asked Srinivas to pick his wife from the agriculture field and drop her at home. The accused took bike keys from the farmer and went to the field. There he sexually assaulted the woman and later killed her,” police added.
After the incident, Srinivas called up his father and told him that the woman died in the maize field. Locals found the naked body with injuries on the neck. Though the victim put up stiff resistance during sexual assault, police said the driver killed her.
(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
