Clarksville-Montgomery County is under Flash Flood Watch until late this evening

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flash flood watch for Clarksville-Montgomery County as well as a portion of Middle Tennessee.

At 1:18pm CT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 9 miles southeast of Clarksville to 10 miles north of Dickson. Movement was northeast at 45 mph.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Several places across northern Middle Tennessee have received 2-3 inches overnight and with multiple rounds of heavy rain still expected across these same areas today, a Flash Flood Watch has become necessary.

An additional 1-3 inches across the same areas is expected between today and tonight.

The main areas of concern are along and north of I-40, however others in the watch could see localized flooding by this evening, as well.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a Very Dangerous Situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Stewart County, Montgomery County, Robertson County, Sumner County, Macon County, Clay County, Pickett County, Houston County, Humphreys County, Dickson County, Cheatham County, Davidson County, Wilson County, Trousdale County, Smith County, Jackson County, Putnam County, Overton County, Fentress County, Perry County, Hickman County, Williamson County, Rutherford County, Cannon County, and De Kalb County.

Including the cities of Dover TN, Clarksville TN, Springfield TN, Hendersonville TN, Gallatin TN, Goodlettsville TN, Lafayette TN, Celina TN, Byrdstown TN, Erin TN, Tennessee Ridge TN, Waverly TN, New Johnsonville TN, McEwen TN, Dickson TN, Ashland City TN, Kingston Springs TN, Nashville TN, Lebanon TN, Mount Juliet TN, Hartsville TN, Carthage TN, South Carthage TN, Gordonsville TN, Gainesboro TN, Cookeville TN, Livingston TN, Jamestown TN, Allardt TN, Linden TN, Lobelville TN, Centerville TN, Franklin TN, Brentwood TN, Murfreesboro TN, Smyrna TN, La Vergne TN, Woodbury TN, and Smithville TN.
