PATNA/KAIMUR/GAYA/AURANGABAD: Chief minister (CM) Nitish Kumar on Tuesday laid foundation stones and inaugurated altogether 606 development schemes worth Rs 668.97 crore from the campus of Mundeshwsari Dham temple in Bhagwanpur block of Kaimur district. The CM also announced that farmers whose crops were damaged in the recent rain will be compensated by the disaster management department (DMD).
While the CM laid foundation stones for 515 schemes worth Rs 564.82 crore, he inaugurated 91 schemes worth Rs 104.15 crore for Kaimur district.

The CM, who visited Kaimur, Gaya, Aurangabad and Rohtas districts as part of his Jal Jeevan Hariyali (JJH) Yatra, said tender for erection of ropeway to the Mundeshwari Dham temple had already been floated.
He dwelt at length on various development steps taken by his government and also appealed to farmers to refrain from stubble burning as it weakens soil productivity. “Stubbles should be used for cattle fodder or as organic manure,” the CM said.
At Mundeshwari Dham, the CM said the farmers who were hit by rain three days ago will get adequate compensation. The CM also talked about the Rs 2,213 crore assistance at the rate of Rs 6,000 per person which the state government provided to the flood-hit people of the state this year.
Nitish said the state government was committed to implementing the JJH project worth Rs 24,500 crore over the next five years in “mission mode” to check depletion of groundwater resources and restore ecological balance. He appealed to the people to take part in the human chain on January 19 to promote the JJH campaign.
The CM said even Bill Gates had praised his government’s JJH project, under which ponds, aaahars, paeens, old community wells and hand pumps will be renovated. The government has also targeted to plant 8 crore saplings in the state over the next three years as part of project, he said.
