On Tuesday noon, two youths barged into courtroom and sprayed bullets on Shahnawaz, an accused in the murder of a local BSP leader.
While Shahnawaz died on the spot, two constables were left injured. Both Jabbar and the deceased had been brought to Bijnor court for hearing from Delhi jail.
According to Bijnor superintendent of police Sanjeev Tyagi, "Eighteen police personnel, including a sub-inspector and five woman constables, were suspended for dereliction of duty with immediate effect. They were posted at Jadgi outpost and deployed here in the court premises and surrounding areas."

According to sources, there were lapses into court security. Therefore, three assailants barged into the court with illegal weapons and hurled bullets at Shahnawaz and his close associate Jabbar who were brought from Delhi to Bijnor CJM court on Tuesday. Shahnawaz and Jabbar gang gunned down a BSP leader and local don Ehsaan Ahmed and his nephew six months ago and they were arrested in Delhi some month ago by Delhi police. However, their gang members were arrested by Bijnor police.

All three assailants waiting for both the prisoners inside the court, before the hearing started in Ehsaan murder case, they opened around 24 rounds pumping a dozen bullets into Shahnawaz body in which two constables also sustained bullet injuries.
Taking advantage of the hue and cry situation, Jabber escaped from the court. Police are on the hunt of Jabber.
Sources within the police said, assailants had selected court to shoot Shahnawaz and Jabbar because they knew about the lapse in security of the court. Apart from this, they were confirmed for their safety also to do so as police would not have opened fire in the court because of the crowd present inside it.
They knew that if they carried out the attack on Shahnawaz outside court, they would have been killed by Delhi police security.
Presently, combing operation in search of Jabbar is on. He is still at large. The attack was carried out as retaliation of double murder.
