Avani and Samir met in 2010 and instantly bonded over their curiosity and love for exotic travel and culinary experiences. They moved back to India in 2011, set up ‘Burgundy Hospitality’ and got married. Their job, as founder and curators or ‘Provenance’, lets them travel across the world looking for new experiences and unique products. Avani says, “We love discovering countries on the road. Some of our most memorable road trips were from Paris to Rome, from Aman to the Dead Sea through the Wadi Rum, and from Edinburgh to the Scottish highlands.”
One place the duo keeps going back to however is Tokyo. Avani adds, “It’s what inspired our first business venture and place we have a deep personal and professional connection to.” In fact, Tokyo is home to one of their favourite coffee shops in the world. Samir, who is considered the coffee connoisseur, says that Bear Pond in Tokyo serves up some of the best coffee. “My other two recommendations are Coffee Supreme in Auckland and Satan’s Coffee in Barcelona.”

If you’re looking to set up a coffee station closer to home, Samir says you can do so right at home. “If you’re setting up a coffee station at home, it really depends on the coffee you enjoy. It could be as little as some freshly ground coffee beans and an aero press or as sophisticated as a Kees Van der Westen Speedster coffee machine with a Mazzer coffee grinder.”
