Seven Sasta Bazaars set up in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: The district administration has set up seven Sasta Bazaars to provide daily use items at subsidised rates to the Christian community.

Addressing a meeting here, DC Sohail Ashraf said that the tehsil assistant commissioners would be overall incharges of the Sasta Bazaars for smooth functioning while fresh fruits, meat, flour, sugar and others essential commodities would be available at subsidised prices in these bazaars. The bazaars had been set up at Fransisabad, Wazirabad, Gakhar, Alipur Chattha, Peoples Colony, Kamoki and Nowshera Virkan, he told. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure the availability of essential commodities in these bazaars. Meanwhile, the DC has directed the development authorities to ensure the timely completion of development projects in the district and all the available funds should be utilised before December 31. He said this while addressing the development review committee meeting at his office. Director Development Dr Muhammad Ghayas told that the Punjab government had released funds of Rs 4 billion for 221 development projects from which Rs 2 billion had been utilised while development work on 171 schemes was still continued. The DC directed that remaining funds should be utilised till the end of this year while all pending development schemes should be completed within the estimated period.

ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE: A bus security guard died in an accident at Kamoki on Sunday. Reportedly, a bus was carrying passengers to Bahawalnagar from Rawalpindi when it collided with a loader. As a result, bus security guard Khalid Mehmood died on the spot.
