Nitish Kumar launches 167 schemes worth Rs 137 crore in Seohar

Chief minister Nitish Kumar launched 167 development schemes worth Rs 137 crore during a ‘Jagrukta Sammelan’ at the Collectorate ground in Sheohar on Monday. The event was organised as part of the fourth leg of his statewide ‘Jal-Jivan-Hariyali' Yatra.

PATNA/SITAMARHI: Chief minister Nitish Kumar launched 167 development schemes worth Rs 137 crore during a ‘Jagrukta Sammelan’ at the Collectorate ground in Sheohar on Monday. The event was organised as part of the fourth leg of his statewide ‘Jal-Jivan-Hariyali' Yatra.
“Doing your service is my religion. Development with justice is our motto. I have been trying my best for development of each area, each sector and each strata of the society.
Nobody is left unattended. Work is being done for welfare of everyone,” Nitish said.
“Special attempts are being made to bring all those, who were left out on the margins of society, into the mainstream,” Nitish highlighted. Various schemes were being run by his government for uplift of SC, ST, extremely backward classes, women and minorities, he added.
Emphasising on the development of women in the state, he highlighted that self-help groups have been formed to bring unity and awareness among women. “Initially, the scheme of SHGs was implemented in 44 blocks of six districts after taking a financial assistance from the World Bank.
Later, the scheme, with certain modifications was implemented across the state in the name of Jeevika,” Nitish said.
So far, more than one crore families have been linked with the Jeevika scheme after forming around nine lakh self-help groups. There is a target of constituting more than 10 lakh SHGs under Jeevika,” he added.
Apart from that, women have been provided 50% reservation under the Panchayati Raj Institutions and urban local bodies, he said.

CM also released a book based on the ‘Jal-Jivan-Hariyali Abhiyan’ on this occasion and inspected stalls put up by various departments to showcase their schemes. He flagged-off a ‘Jagrukta Rath’, which will spread awareness about the Abhiyan in Sheohar district.
State cooperative minister Rana Randhir Singh, Sheohar MP Rama Devi, MLC Devesh Chandra Thakur, MLAs Md Sharafuddin and Sunita Singh Chauhan, state’s chief secretary Deepak Kumar and Tirhut divisional commissioner Pankaj Kumar also addressed the Jagrukta Sammelan.
Earlier the CM, visited Garhwa village under Chamanpur panchayat of Sheohar block and inspected various schemes being executed under the Jal-Jivan-Hariyali abhiyan. From Sheohar, the CM went to Sitamarhi where he reviewed several on-going developmental work at village Aabidpur under Bajpatti block.
He planted a sapling at the Panchayat Bhawan and inspected a rainwater harvesting unit and solar energy system. He also advised the villagers to take benefit from ‘Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal’ scheme.
Nitish suggested that all elected representatives ensure participation of maximum number of people to make the proposed human chain programme on January 19, 2020, a grand success.
The CM visited the Aabidpur primary school and met the students there. Later he visited the Boghayan temple, which has been renovated by the tourism department at a cost of Rs 3.2 crore. Nitish, accompanied by Sitamarhi DM Abhilasha Kumari Sharma, visited the temple and lauded how it has been put on the state’s tourism map.
