PATNA: A tea stall owner was kidnapped and killed in Banka district for just Rs 500 on Sunday night.
The incident took place at Patki village under the Amarpur police station area in the district. The victim, Ritesh Kasera, was kidnapped from his tea stall at Amarpur bus stand around midnight on Sunday. His body was recovered from Patki village on Monday morning.
Police said the deceased had an altercation with some youths for demanding Rs 500, which they owed to him.
The youths had promised to pay the money at the earliest, but got agitated when the tea seller reminded them about it on Sunday.
SHO of Amarpur police station Sunny Kumar said the deceased was shot by the SUV-borne criminals after being kidnapped from his shop. Marks of external injuries were also found on the deceased’s body, which suggested that he was brutally assaulted before being shot, the SHO said.
He added three suspects — Shakti Yadav, Ravi Kesra and Sonu Bhagat — have been detained for interrogation in connection with the case. The victim’s father, Raji Kasera, had earlier told the police that Ravi Kasera had refused to pay Rs 500 for his son, which led to the incident.
Banka SDPO D P Srivastava said raids were on to recover the vehicle used in the crime.
