Jalpaiguri: A tremor was felt in Jalpaiguri and adjacent areas in West Bengal on Tuesday around 8.07pm. People were out on the streets celebrating Christmas eve when the mild earthquake was felt.
Although there was no damage to life or property, the tremor did scare a section of people who tried to relate it to the earthquake that shook the region on September 18, 2011.
“I was at the Cathedral church when the incident occurred . Although it was nothing major, still I was afraid,” said Bhola Mondol, a Catholic. The quake of magnitude 3.2 occurred at a depth of 32km in Jalpaiguri.
