A gang of youths broke open an ATM at State Bank of India’s Belgachhia branch in Howrah and made off with Rs 29 lakh. Cops suspect they had used gas cutters to break open the machine. The ATM does not have a security guard.

HOWRAH: A gang of youths broke open an ATM at State Bank of India’s Belgachhia branch in Howrah and made off with Rs 29 lakh. Cops suspect they had used gas cutters to break open the machine. The ATM does not have a security guard.
SBI branch manager Kamalesh Mukherjee said, “The break-in was noticed on Friday morning when men from our bank’s agency went to put cash in the machine.
We have lodged an FIR with Liluah police station. Rs 29 lakh was taken and the culprits burnt the CCTV cameras in the kiosk.”
