AGRA: Jaitra police of Etah district on Saturday arrested four men wanted in two separate rape cases, including that of a Dalit girl.
According to the two FIRs, both the crimes occurred on Thursday within a span of 12 hours.
In the first case, a 14-year-old Dalit girl was raped when she and her friend had gone to a field to collect fodder around 10 am.
“The two girls were waylaid by 19-year-old Arjun Singh, a resident of Kesarpur village.
He caught and dragged the 14-year-old to a farm, while the girl’s friend managed to flee and called for help. The girl informed the rape survivor’s mother about the crime and ran to rescue the teen,” the FIR stated.
“As soon the villagers reached the spot, Arjun ran to his village and called his two relatives. Armed with guns, the accused relatives, identified as Bhawar Singh and Alwar, fired shots at villagers and my wife,” said the girl’s father.
After the incident, accused Arjun was booked under IPC section 376 (rape), POCSO Act, along with ST/SC act, while his uncles—Bhawar Singh and Alwar—were booked under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

In the second case, a 19-year-old girl was gang-raped around 10 pm when she had gone outside to answer nature’s call.
According to FIR lodged by the girl’s father, “My daughter had gone out when Aman (28), Ramratan (26) and Vivek—three neighbours— gagged her and raped her.”
The FIR further stated that the three accused intoxicated the woman with a chemical substance and made her unconscious before the sexual assault.
All the three accused were booked under IPC sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence), and 376-D (gang-rape).
