PATNA: Suspected Maoists kidnapped two people from Chanan police station area in Naxal infested Lakhisarai district and subsequently killed them with semi-automatic weapons late on Saturday night. The bodies of the deceased were recovered from two different places early on Sunday morning.
Police said that a group of Maoists armed with sophisticated weapons descended at Baskund Korasi and its neighbouring Gobardaha village under Chanan police station area around 11 pm on Saturday and held Mughal Kora (50) and Sanjay Kora (30) captive.
The two captives were found dead on the outskirts of their respective native villages on Sunday morning.
While Mughal Kora was shot with an SLR, Sanjay was attacked with an AK-47 assault rifles. The Chanan police station SHO Vaibhav Kumar said on Sunday that the used cartridges of AK-47 and SLR, both prohibited bore, have been recovered from the site of occurrence. Mughal had received two bullet injuries whereas Sanjay’s body multiple injuries.
“The post mortem of the bodies will reveal how many shots were fired by the attackers to kill the two people, who they described as police informers. The use of sophisticated weapons in the incident is a matter of concern. It shows that the group of the banned outfit involved in the killing possessed sophisticated weapons,” the SHO told this newspaper over phone.
The assailants had left pamphlets on the spot warning local residents of meeting the same fate if they dared to leak information about the activities of the armed squad of the outfit. The pamphlets revealed the names of four people who had been given death penalty earlier by the Kangaroo court held by the organization. Three of them have already been eliminated.
Lakhisarai SDPO Nurul Haq said the police launched raids in the nearby forest to nab the culprits. “The search operation in the forest will continue,” he said, adding that patrolling has been intensified in the region to instill a sense of security among the residents, mostly belonging to tribal community. The police seized a large quantity of literature of CPI-Maoist during the search operation.
Earlier, 40-year-old Gorelal Koda, stated to be an active member of the CPI-Maoist, was gunned down by a group of heavily armed Maoists at Kethia Balchand village under Piri Bazar police station in Lakhisarai district in October for being an informer of the police. Besides, Madan Yadav, a former Maoist, was killed with AK-47 under Chanan police station area of the district in August.
