Dacoits strike at house in Bareilly, decamp with cash, jewellery

BAREILLY: A group of five dacoits stormed into a house and decamped with cash and jewellery after locking the family up in a room at gunpoint. The incident occurred on the outskirts of Bareilly city early on Tuesday.
The dacoits targeted the house of Ram Naresh situated in Shivganga colony of Izzatnagar area at 1 am when the family was sleeping.
Police said an FIR has been lodged against five unidentified accused and anti-dacoity and surveillance teams of crime branch have been deployed along with local police to resolve the case at the earliest.
The house owner, Ram Naresh, who works as an insurance company agent, said he and his family members were sleeping when five armed dacoits forcefully entered his house through roof and woke them up. They were asked to give up their cash and jewellery at gunpoint.
After sweeping all the expensive items, dacoits tied their hands and locked them in a room. They also took away their mobile phones to ensure that they couldn’t contact anyone. On Tuesday morning, neighbours rescued the family and police were informed.
Izzatnagar station house officer AK Verma said, “An FIR has been registered against unidentified robbers under IPC section 395 (dacoity) and we are trying to identify the gang involved in the crime. There must be someone who would have done reconnaissance for the dacoits and he could be the connecting link. Forensic team has collected the samples of finger prints and we will try to match them with our list of robbers active in Bareilly.”
