A man from Carpenter has claimed the fourth-largest jackpot in the history of South Dakota's Dakota Cash lottery game.
Kent Waldner claimed the prize on Dec. 31, turning in the winning ticket for the $453,995 jackpot in the Dec. 28 drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at Carlson’s Northside Service, located at 320 N. Dakota Ave. in Huron and Waldner told the South Dakota Lottery he learned he won on Tuesday when he turned in his tickets at the convenience store.
The winning numbers were 10, 16, 24, 27 and 34, and the odds of hitting the jackpot were 1 in 324,632. Waldner said he plans to purchase a new house with the winnings. Carpenter is an unincorporated community in Clark County, located about 35 miles northeast of Huron.
