LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday alleged that over 1,000 infants died in Gorakhpur, the home district of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, in past 12 months but he has never expressed concern over it. Talking to media at the party office, Akhilesh said he read the tweet of CM Yogi on Kota infant deaths and questioned him as to when he would express concern about the deaths of children in Gorakhpur.
The SP would release the list of dead children due to fever on Monday, he said.
"CM is expressing concern about the deaths of infants in Kota but when will he be worried about the deaths of over 1000 children in Gorakhpur? The inhuman aspect of the death is that doctors were aware of the disease but due to instruction from the government and CM that figures should be right, proper medication was not given. We will release the list of children on Monday," Akhilesh said.
On Ashok Gehlot's statement that infant deaths were lowest in last six years, Akhilesh said, "I had been to Rajasthan and know the real situation."
He continued to attack the government saying, "The most inhuman aspect of the deaths in Gorakhpur is that children were not given proper medicines," he said.
