Bus mows down Jalpaiguri girl

Jalpaiguri: A Class XII student was run over by a North Bengal State Transport Corporation bus in Jalpaiguri, leading to violent protests by locals on Saturday morning. Three government buses were set ablaze.
Trisha Chakraborty (17) was headed for tuition, riding pillion on a scooty with her brother. They encountered traffic congestion at Mohit Nagar due to a rail gate being closed on NH 31D.Here, a Siliguri-bound NBSTC bus hit the scooty head-on. Both were knocked off the vehicle; Trisha was run over and died on the spot. She was to take the HS exams this year.
