VARANASI: Mesmerising Ganga aarti, rhythmic chants of mantras and multi-layered ceremonial brass lamps moving in a tuned motion. This breathtaking view will soon spellbind visitors to the world’s tallest statue — the Statue of Unity — in Gujarat.
On the lines of the worldfamed Varanasi’s Dashashwamedh ghat, Ganga aarti will soon be performed on the banks of Narmada near the statue in Kevadia, Gujarat, in keeping with the wish of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On its part, the tourism department of Gujarat will organise a ‘kite festival’ in UP along with other Gujarati components like ‘garba’ and also some folk arts.
Seeking UP government’s cooperation in this regard, Gujarat’s tourism minister Jawahar Chavda met UP minister of state (independent charge) for tourism, culture and religious affairs Neelkanth Tiwari after attending Ganga aarti at Dashaswamedh ghat here on Friday evening.
During the meeting, Chavda said, “It’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s wish to begin Ganga aarti on the banks of Narmada near the Statue of Unity like it is performed on Kashi ghats. For this, I am visiting Varanasi.” Tiwari said, “We have assured Chavda of all support. If Gujarat’s tourism department seeks any cooperation on government level to hold Ganga aarti, we are ready to provide all facilities including priests.”
Chavda invited UP Tourism to visit Kutch
Both the ministers also discussed the plan for hosting events like ‘kite festival’ of Gujarat in Uttar Pradesh by “incorporating the culture of Gujarat and religious activities, including garba, Navratri fair and others”.
Chavda also invited a delegation of Uttar Pradesh tourism to visit Kutch Rann Utsav, Unity of Statue and other tourist sites in Gujarat and discuss more possibilities for the promotion of tourism in both the state.
