PATNA: Patna University (PU) has, of late, initiated several measures for ensuring better management of student-centric activities.
In a first, the size and format of degrees awarded to students after successful completion of their courses of studies have been changed in such a way that it would be easier to carry them. The practice of awarding huge-size degrees written in English only (Hindi version on demand and submission of additional fee) has been stopped and instead an A4 size degree containing both Hindi and English version on the same page has been introduced.

“The new degree format will also contain photograph of the candidate and his or her unique ID. Faking degrees and certificates will be very difficult now,” said a PU official. All the PU scholars received their degrees in new format at the convocation held on Saturday.
In another initiative, PU has strengthened its counselling, training and placement cell for providing the much-needed career counselling and securing jobs to the passouts of both conventional and vocational (self-financing) courses. “For the first time in 2019, several big companies visited the university and selected students from different institutions on the basis of written test and interview,” said PU vice-chancellor Rash Bihari Prasad Singh.
Quite recently, a full-fledged career centre was established on the campus with a view to enhancing the employability skills and providing necessary information to students about job avenues in different sectors. An MoU to this effect was signed between the PU’s placement cell and Medha Learning Foundation.
