Soon, Uttar Pradesh to get third zoo in Gorakhpur

LUCKNOW: The cabinet, on Tuesday, gave its nod to an amount of Rs 234 crore for the construction of Shaheed Ashfaqullah Khan zoological garden in Gorakhpur.
To be built on a proposed area of 121.34 acres, it would be the third zoo in state after Lucknow and Kanpur.
The cabinet noted that some high quality works have been included in the proposal for zoo which are beyond the even standards followed by Public Works Department.The total cost of the project is also more than Rs 200 crore.
“Seeing this, the cabinet has said that clearance for the entire project also needs to be sought from it,” said Shrikant Sharma, government spokesperson.
“Not only will this become a tourist attraction, it would also create new employment opportunities in the area,” Sharma said.
